Updated whenever something 1. noteworthy and 2. that I remmeber to record occurs.
This landing page will include a few of my favourite things, some of which I'll probably discuss in some entries.
Whenever an entry for a past date is added, it's because I wanted a record fo what I actually did that day. No time travel involved, just a botched memory.

I'll add onto both of these lists progressively, this is just a starting point.
A mouse got caught today. Figure they're coming up through the downstair's neighbours place, since ours is pretty air-tight at this point. I also watched the films 下妻物語 Peep "TV" Show and 千年女優.

★★★★☆ Peep "TV" Show was good. Although I can't always keep my interest on films that fixate on one specific narrative about "society," Peep TV Show didn't seem to be preaching anything. Instead it kept in line with what it was showing; the whole thing is a film reel, not a sermon.
I watched this with ENG subs, on YouTube, the quality could've been better but I'll take what I can get.
This film was paired with some books I was reading around the time with similar (though in no way identical) subject material, maybe that's part of why it clicked well enough.
★★★★★ 妻物語 was amazing. Incredibly charming. Everything about the film feels really lively, from the cast to the costumes to the locations. Great pacing, too. Ideal use of standard character tropes. I watched this with ENG subs, on one of the dozen film pirating sites I visit.

★★★★★★ 千年女優 became an instant favourite. The only other 今敏 film I've seen was Perfect Blue, and this one upkept the expectations Perfect Blue set for me. I'll be taking my time with this director, in the meantime, I hope I see some of the films starring 原節子, who this film's main character was apparently based off of. I watched this one with ENG subs, and again, on a pirating site. Quality was great, though.
Great picks happened today, and probably kickstarted me finally watching more flicks than I ever have in the past.
Average Thursday. Meeting at 12:30PM. Ran errands afterwards. Spring semester grades finalized, GPA reached 4.12, worked on application to new university program. Shiny hunted for SWSH Shinylocke, hit 1000 encounters for Mudbray (5th party member). No luck so far. Watched the film コタンの口笛.

★★★☆☆ It was good. The main actors did their jobs well, younger actors aren't always as convincing. I was surprised to see that the female lead (幸田良子) didn't continue acting much at all. I'm hoping to add more films that even acknowledge the Ainu to my watchlists, to get a variance of opinion from the era. This film was based on the original book of the same name by 石森 延男, published in 1957, with the film coming out in 1959.
I watched this with ENG subs, downloaded from a stray film(s) source. Lol. Swapped to VLC for films past this point, I just like how the subtitles look better than other media players.
I'm still extremely picky with where and when I watch films, but if I have time in the evenings I don't mind digging through my downloaded MP4s now.
Had another meeting today at 11:00AM this time. Checked out a bookstore after the fact, didn't have any of the books on my reading list, but had some interesting looking new releases. Didn't buy anything. Ran some other errands. And coded this blog page in the evening.
Ideally putting up a blog page will keep me in the loop with maintaining my website. It's a little difficult balancing university and work, coding isn't the thing I think of when I have free time, hence how rarely I updated for a number of months.
There are also some pages I want to revamp, but my original goal was to keep everything up no matter what, so I might just stick to QOL updates for those pages. Just tidbits that make them easier to browse. I also need to transfer over my images to my "new" filehost, but, wow that's a pain in the ass every time I need to do it.
I have more ambitious goals with some pages I haven't even put up yet, and it's because I'm honestly not fantastic with coding, I have a very frankenstein-ish method. And I don't want to allocate the time to hone the skill, so, I'll keep making what I make with my self-taught limitations.
Can't decide what book to pick up next, I finished reading Zekka about 5 days ago, and it's still stuck with me solidly enough. Sometimes a book needs to fester a little before you move onto the next one.
