Super Mario Galaxy was released in Japan on November 1st, 2007, and in North America on November 12th, 2007.

Following its 3D platformer predecessors, Super Mario Galaxy had great expectations to live up to. With Super Mario 64 (1996) and Super Mario Sunshine (2002) being revolutionary 3D titles, the standard for Nintendo titles had grown exponentially over the years.

After it's release, Super Mario Galaxy was quickly hailed as one of the greatest games of all time* and has held it's position among a number of 2007 releases.

One of the aspects of Super Mario Galaxy to receive the most praise, has been the game's soundtrack. Composed by primarily by Mahito Yokota, with 4 of the 77 tracks composed by Koji Kondo, the Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack brings a detailed array of musical variance; perfect for the concepts of the vast, endless nature of space.

Mahito Yokota is best known for his composition work with Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, and Super Mario 3D World, among others. Mahito Yokota also voices Cap'n Cuttlefish in the Splatoon series.

Koji Kondo is best known for the Ground Theme of Super Mario Bros, which has become one of the most recognizable themes in video game history. He has also made composition contributions to Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario Odyssey, and the original Super Mario Bros.

The full soundtrack be listened to on Youtube here, and a handful of my favorite tracks will be noted for listening below.
